TYPES OF BUILDING SIGNAGES

FIRE SAFETY SIGNAGE:

Fire signage is important because it helps in guiding the occupants of buildings (house, office, malls, schools, hospitals, etc.) when a fire breaks out or hazard symbols occur. Safety Signs must be provided and maintained in circumstances where a health and safety risk or hazards are identified.

Photoluminescent signage can charge by any artificial and natural light and then glow at night. The glow time is 6- 8 hours.

WAYFINDING / DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE:

Way finding Signage can be used externally to identify a building by its street number or name. Way Finder signage has four group i.e. identification, directional, informational, and regulatory signage:

Wayfinding signage can provide direction to a particular room, Block or area and is important in large, complex buildings such as hospitals, Apartment, Flats, Society educational facilities or transport terminals. Directions signage such as “directional arrows or text” should be installed in a suitable height so that the user can easily see.

INFORMATION SIGNAGE:

An information sign is a sign that is used to informs people and to give instructions. Information signage to be read at close range should be located at heights suitable for the user.

PROHIBITION SIGNAGE:

The letter signs are front-lit, or standard, characters. These are made of plastic or metal and used as exterior signage on commercial or public buildings. Lettering means an art form, where each stylish letter acts and represent the building, area, or brand.

OTHER SIGNAGE:

These are common signage like Car Parking, Lift Signage, In Out, No Entry etc. 2015 editions of the International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC) has issued one checklist for the requirement of the general signage in new buildings. According to OSHA standard 1910.145, signs should be used to identify specific hazards, risks, and to instruct persons for proper precautions.
